William Clifford Kirkcaldie was born on May 16th, 1983, approximately fifteen minutes before his sister Margot, though his parents have never told him that. Determined to override the power relationship often implicit with twins, Cliff (named after his father but utilizing his middle name) and Margot never found out who was the older twin. However, that never had an influence on their fighting. They still nitpicked, they still rough housed, Cliff still cut Margot’s hair while she slept and Margot still gave Cliff wedgies. They grew up in a nice suburb in Adelaide, South Australia, never quite aware of the privileges afforded them in life. Both their parents came with sizable trust funds, and William with a handful of investments in oil around the country. Cliff wanted for nothing but worked for what he received, his parents determined to raise responsible, mature children.

In many ways, they succeeded. Cliff was bright and hard-working, a star student and frequent joiner in extra-curriculars. A move to Northern California shortly after his fourteenth birthday did little to hinder that; Cliff’s new classmates were curious about the boy from Australia, interested in his peculiar accent and means of expressing himself. His grades didn’t slip, but stayed high – high enough to earn Cliff admittance to the University of Pennsylvania after he finished high school. Determined to take over his father’s business, Cliff focused on marketing while he was in school, keen to earn the ins and outs of business. His voracious desire for knowledge was curbed only by a crippling sense of self-importance, Cliff’s own tendency to think he was the smartest person in the room making him occasionally lazy and irresponsible. After graduating, Cliff relocated again to Chicago, where he spent two years working towards his Master’s of Business of Administration. Afterwards, he returned home and began working for his father, who had opened a vineyard after their move to North America. Hungry for success, Cliff succeeded – though many would argue that he had a fair share of nepotism on his side. In 2010, only two years after he began working, Cliff was promoted to Marketing Director for Therapy Wine & Guesthouse. It seemed as if all his ducks were falling neatly into a row – Cliff married Romie Taylor in May of 2013 after a surprisingly short courtship and was promoted to managing director (and given a sizeable amount of the share) in September of 2014, two months after his father announced his impending retirement. Added responsibilities at work and the culmination of the honeymoon phase of their wedding resulted in Romie moving out in December, taking all of her things with her and still leaving Cliff on the hook for the rent of her new apartment.

Most frequently described by his peers as loud, Cliff has a big, boisterous personality that is tempered only by his desire to be seen as professional as possible. While at work, he is even-tempered and fair (though harsh), never picking favourites or tripping over his own power. Off the clock Cliff is an entirely different story. He is moody and bossy, viciously self-important and often times believing that he is the smartest person in any room. His moodiness translates into an occasionally nasty temperament, though Cliff’s jealousy is easily his ugliest personality trait. However, not all of him is negative. Cliff is good-humoured and charming, and a nature people-person.

Soon.
